Rental Assistance

As part of its rental assistance program (commonly known as the Section 8 program), the SFCHA administers over 500 Vouchers. The Section 8 program has provided hundreds of families with rental assistance by paying about 30 percent of their annual adjusted income toward an established contract rent; with the Authority paying the difference. Under this program eligible applicants find rental housing in the private market within the city limits. The Authority may provide utility payments and/or rental payment assistance to the owner on behalf of the eligible household.
